The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to begin it’s regional delegates conference today.
This is geared towards electing new new executives.
The regions that will be having their elections today are Northern, North East and Bono East , with other regions slated for Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29 respectively.
However ,an injunction has been sought by some aggrieved persons in the Ekumfi Constituency from a Cape Coast High Court to restrain organisers of the Central Region conference from holding the elections.
There are also claims that the identity of some delegates representing the Council of Elders in the region, the TESCON representative and the 10 patrons in the region are not known to some of the aspirants.
Speaking to the media the elections director for the party, Evans Nimako has assured that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth election.
“There are enough arrangements put in place by the Party to ensure that issues of disagreements, misunderstandings, outcome of vetting and all that are resolved. The processes put in place by the Party have been very consultative, participatory and have been very transparent.
The positions to be contested for include Regional Chairperson, First Regional Vice Chairperson, Second Regional Vice Chairperson, Regional Secretary and Assistant Regional Secretary.
Others are Regional Treasurer, Regional Organiser, Regional Women’s Organiser, Regional Youth Organiser and Regional NASARA Coordinator.
